As the Feast of the Black Nazarene approaches, schools and universities around Metro Manila announced its suspension of classes during the feast. The Black Nazarene is known to devotes in Spanish as Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno.
The history behind its dark complexion was said to be because it survived a burning ship on its arrival from Mexico. The feast is held annually during the 9th of January and during Good Friday.
